Sapaya
Sapaya is one of the ancient parcussion instruments.At the beginning, it was made of wild goat horn .
The present- day Sapaya is made of the wood of apricot , walnut and mulberry trees It is made by installing
two iron rings on two round and wooden handles On each iron ring , more than ten small iron rings are in -
stalled . The wooden handle is covered with tin to make louder sound when the iron rings touch it .
When we play Sapaya,we hold the handle and move it up and down freely and the iron rings touch the
handles with certaln rhythm.And asound’shaldur-shaldur'is made and it adds a unique rhythm to the mu-
sic.Sometimes it can be played when dancing.The length of the handle is about46centimeters.The diame—
ter of the big rings is 9centimeters and the diameter of small rings is around 3 centimeters.Sometimes the
player gently touches it on the right shoulder,hand and the ground to make special rhythm.
