Tambur
Tambur is an instrument with a long handle of 140 centimeters.Its head is in the shape ofa pear and
made of carved wood or wood planking by attaching them to one another.The surface and handle are
usually made of mulberry tree wood.There are nearly thirty tunes and steel is used as strings.It is played
with a pick(plectrum)by flicking the strings.It is put on the rightt leg lap vertically when it is played.
One of the special features of Tambur is that its handle is long and so is its tring.And it makes
melodic sound with echo.On the handle and the head of Tambur,there is fretwork of bones and plastics.It
is usually played separately or with other instruments during the performance of Muqam.In the
performance of Muqam it is as important as Satar.Tambur is popular in the region of Ili and Aksu.
Tambur has five strings.The first two strings are used to play melody and adjusted to a tone.The string
in the middle is adjusted to the tone of dl and the last two strings are adjusted to the tone of g.Tambur
makes soft,melodic and loud sound.
