Jalla
It is also called Jang .It is made of a couple of Copper or bronze.It looks like a plate.Each of the
two plates has a hole in the center and a rope is fixed.It is played by hitting them each other.The player
holds it with the rope.In No.29 cave of Bizeklik Thousand Caves,there is a picture of Jalla.This indicates
that in ancient Idiqut music Jlla was used

Jalla one of the important instruments in ancient Kuqa orchestra and now it is also called,Jangf-Jang’
A pair of big Jalla are grouped with several small Jalla or several groups of Jalla are played along with
Drum and Naghra to make different tempo and rhythm.They played an important role in the lion and Wolf
dance of ancient Kuqa as well as fancy dress dancing.
Jalla was made of copper or bronze in the shape of half sphere with aplump in the center.They are
played by holding each of them with the cloth or rope which is flxed to the center and hitting the glossy sur—
face to each other.The hitting makes spectacular melodic sound like jang -jang,
The diameter of a small Jalla is between fifteen and twenty centimeters.The big one's diameter is be·
tween thirty and fony centimeters.
