This kind of Ghijek is also called round—headed Ghirjek.It was reformed and made by the Urumqi
Musical lnstmments Factory in the 1950s.
The handle of the an cient Ghirjek is made of the wood of willow tree and its head (the pot)is made of
round carved wood of date tree.And at that time,the skin of horse or donkey was used on its head surface.
Now the new kind of Ghirjek is made of the wood of walnut,mulbeny,apricot and phoenix trees.Snake
skin is USed.
Many holes are made on the front and back of the round cover to make Full use of the echo sound.his
about seventy centimeters long.The earlfest Ghirjek had two or three strings.The present ones have four
strings.The ears for rolling up the strings are beautiFully made and decorated with magnificent fretwork.

called high tone Ghirjek in the orchestra.In recent years,another kind of low sound Ghirjek has been made
and used in or chestras.The adjustments of it strings are the same as the violin.
