Dutar
Dutar is an instrument with long handle of about 130 centimeters.Its big head is in the shape a pear.It
is often made of mulberry wood plank by sticking them.The surface of its head is also made of mulberTy
wood plank.On its handle there are fiftee tunes.It has two strings made of bowel or silk.of the two
strings,one makes high sound the other makes low sound.It is played wit fingers by putting it on the right
leg lap.It has melodic sound end it is convenient to play while singing.Therefore,it is often played with
Tambur or played separately.Dutar is very popular among Uighur people and almost every household has
one Dutar It plays an important role in training our people,s musical feelings.Its head and handle are
decorated with beautiful fretwork using bones and plastics.
