1 ~ (as sth) (informal) to leave your job, school, etc:
[V] If I don't get more money I'll quit. * He has decided to quit as manager of the team. * [VN] He quit the show last year because of bad health.
2 (informal, especially AmE) to stop doing sth:
[VN-ing] I've quit smoking. * [VN] Just quit it! * [V] We only just started. We're not going to quit now.
3 to leave the place where you live:
[VN] We decided it was time to quit the city. * [V] The landlord gave them all notice to quit.
